About statements and actions === One of the most confusing things I see over and over again are people that expect other people to act completely consistent to their statements and believes. Starting with those who say they are not racist but at some point might tell a racist joke or make a racist statement. To those who say they want to protect the environment but book a flight to some country for holidays. A statement doesn't tell what people are or aren't. And the same goes for a single action. While of course there are exceptions with cases where a single action can be considered to be so much out of what can be tolerated, this doesn't apply to the majority of actions. It's about the sum of actions and the intentions behind them that tells what people are. One has to stop nailing people down on their statements. It's normal for humans to preach water while drinking wine themselves. The nature of human kind is to have a better image of themselves and their believes than they actually are. That doesn't mean you completely ignore it, when people act different from what they stated, but at least don't nail them to it. Yes, once you do it, it's easy. And even easier when people say things and act in public while you keep things private. Especially those things that might contradict your statements. The bible contains quite a lot of stories about people who think better about themselves than they actually are. And even without being religious or even believing in any of those stories, you hopefully can admit that it's true. People, including yourself, don't strictly act like they said, even when they deeply believe in it. And when you still consider all this text to be nonsense, think of a person that failed to quit smoking. People believe in the fact that they can quit smoking, they say they will do it, but when they fail, it means they obviously act against their stated believes. This doesn't mean they shouldn't try quitting again, but also doesn't mean they are liars or that they believe any less in the possibility of quitting smoking. Free will is a gift, but doesn't mean it's easy to handle. We are surrounded by expectations, constraints and our own will, that brings us to act completely different from what we say. Or say completely different things than how we act? I hope you can understand this and be kinder with the humans around you. See over their short comings and try to understand why they are who they are.
